As soon as you go up to the second floor, you will see this work displayed on the wall on the right hand side. It portrays a near-future female image and makeup based on a sci-fi realm by also reinterpreting it. What you find is an expression of next-generation beauty created from Yamada’s own belief of being free from any traditional notion. The work is highlighted by makeup and lights, letting you feel a near-future kind of texture from it as well.

「A motion」

This work is displayed on the wall on the left hand side in the exhibition space on the second floor. The concept arises from the physical movements that give inspiration. Indeed, “A motion” is a visualization of traces made by energy and actions released from the entire body. Tadashi Harada, SHISEIDO’s top hair and makeup artist who did the hair and makeup, took on a challenge to create hairstyles and makeup that could only be perfected together with the movements of the models. As for the subjects, Jonte’ Moaning, a dancer and choreographer, and Mona Matsuoka, a model, were used. What you see here is a work brimming with dynamism and power.

「vs “IMAGE”」

“vs ‘IMAGE'” by Kei Maruhashi
Profile: Joined SHISEIDO in 1991. Currently in charge of Serge Lutens, corporate advertising, global SHISEIDO, etc.

This work is found on the front side of the second floor. Maruhashi believes that women use makeup to picture their own future and that their wish to become beautiful knows no boundaries. Colors and textures such as foundation and eyeshadows are layered on top of the model closing her eyes and visualizing her future self. Because it is shot by film, the work is able to convey a charm that digital data cannot create. At the same time, the process of making a woman beautiful and the finished image are also expressed. This work makes you feel that it shows the female desire of beauty in a gentle way.

All the exhibited works are printed utilizing Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.’s “PRIMOArt,” an output technology utilizing the company’s unique and advanced technology. Delicate color tones and a wide spectrum are vibrantly recreated to play a part in creating a high-quality finish.
