katana

Katana refer to Japanese swords — a Millennium of tradition and Japanese beauty of which Japan can rightly proud. Even while gaining greater and greater popularity, Katana are nevertheless considered to be a kind of forbidding genre; this due to its peculiarity of use as a weapon, as well as to the fact that people need to learn the ropes to fully enjoy their beauty.
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum’s latest exhibition features some 40 of the finest swords from the museum collection, including three designated as Important Cultural Properties. The exhibition employs interactive and comparative displays through which visitors can see the swords closely and better enjoy their beauty. We are also displaying byobu (folding screens), emaki (illustrated scrolls), and ukiyo-e (wood-block prints) that depict war scenes and warriors along with the swords. We hope visitors enjoy the unique, fascinating and rich world of Katana.
