October’s theme is “Halloween costume”.
What kind of costume would you wear to a Halloween party?

It’s October, which means it’s almost Halloween!
During this time of year, Halloween-themed merchandise line store shelves, and people go to parties dressed in costumes. Halloween decorations around the city heighten the festive mood.

How about going to a musical instrument store?
Once you’ve chosen your costume, go look for some noise making items!
Bells and sticks would make an awesome accompaniment for dancing to music !

Happy Halloween!
I can already picture images of costumed children parading from door to door crying “Trick or treat!” and looking delighted with their pockets bulging with candy as they head back home.
Halloween is held on October 31 each year, on the eve of the All Saints’ Day, which is celebrated on November 1. This is a day when people give prayers to all the saints. It’s kind of like Bon Festival in Japan. On Halloween, they say evil spirits roam the earth along with the spirits of dead ancestors. Traditionally, people wear scary-looking costumes and makeup so that they won’t be recognized by evil spirits and have their soul taken away. Halloween festivals are meant to chase away evil spirits from the earthly world, and to welcome the spirits of dead ancestors in celebration of the autumn harvest.
I live in the tropical land of Kagoshima, and today I’ve been invited to a home party by a friend to celebrate Halloween. I’ve already decided to bring a pumpkin casserole and also some apples as a biblical allusion. I will bring eight apples with a hope for some good fortune (“eight” is considered an auspicious number in Japanese culture) . I wavered over the costume quite a bit, but I’ve decided to wear a black sexy devil costume. Last year I wore a zombie costume but had a hard time getting the eye shadow right. This year I have everything perfectly planned. Although I’m normally a “white angel,” today I will masquerade as a black seductive devil. I’ll have a great time! Oh, and I also shouldn’t forget to look out for my soul. I hope you all have a happy Halloween!
